In today's video you'll learn how to use arpeggio picking to create a rolling accompaniment guitar part for Eric Clapton's "River of Tears."
This tune has a mellow laid back groove, and is in a 6/8 time signature. Arpeggio picking requires accuracy and control in your strum hand. You want to be able to pick out certain notes of a chord vs. just strumming all the strings.
For this song today the goal is to emulate the main accompaniment which is actually played by the keyboard. As a guitarist, developing your arpeggio picking technique is a super valuable skill, and it will come in handy when playing so many songs.
There are only two main sections to learn for today's song, the A and B sections, and when you're done with this video you'll have everything you need to go play along with the original recording. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9boMXJCVZU
