I have 4 instruments in my bedroom and a copy of Logic Pro X. I basically have a small studio setup. My instruments are Piano, Acoustic guitar, Electric guitar, and Electric Bass. I also have a lot of free time. I don't currently work due to my mental health. My question is, how do I find the time to play all those instruments WELL? I don't care to be a master at an instrument, just enough to play, jam, and write songs. I tried practicing all those instruments but I ended up burned out and overwhelmed.
I read about professional musicians who practiced like 6-10 hours per day. I looked at myself and say I don't have what it takes.
Should I practice 30mins, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 2 hours+ per day for each instrument? I get a little impatient with my overall growth btw. I'm not a beginner at the guitar or piano. I played them in my teen years. I've just been on and off with them. However, I am new at the bass or even singing. I actually strive to be a multi-instrumentalist but sometimes wonder if I'm doing too much. I just always thought it's pretty fun to play multiple instruments.
I read somewhere online that you should not have more than 3-4 goals at a time and also more than 3 hobbies at a time. Should I practice one instrument at a time? Would it be counterproductive to take on more than one instrument?
I'd like to make beats and write songs but right now, I'm in a creative dry spell. I figured I'd need to practice my craft more and that includes practicing my instruments more.
I also realize that I may not ever become famous or rich in making music. I had to come to that realization and it calmed me down. Ultimately, I would like to have fun and enjoy myself but I still stress over the fact that , to me, I sound like shit. (I've received compliments about my musicianship but I still consider myself shit.) It's a curse of mine.
I'm 27 btw.
