I have been doing the contextual ear training (Alain Benbassat's method), and had been having good progress. I'm able to identify notes in one octave of C major reliably (90-95% accuracy). But, when I switch to what is labeled as the next level (multi-octave C), I'm COMPLETELY lost. I can't make heads of tails out of the notes, and I'm randomly guessing them. I'm now only scoring 30-35%, but that's because those notes are in the same octave as the chords that's being played. Is this normal? What can I do to get over this slump?
