One of the key ingredients to sounding like an authentic blues guitarist is the ability to drop in some turnaround licks. These licks are typically played in the last two bars of a blues chord progression, and function as a melody that takes you from the end of the chord progression back to the beginning, that's why these phrases are called "turnarounds".
