Me and my partner have about 2-3 hours per evening to dedicate to a shared hobby (we've just finished a DIY van-build project!).
Both of us enjoy music but play very little - I played the drums for 3-4 years when I was a kid, and she does some vocals for her dad's band.
Ideally I'd love to be able to create the type of music that I regularly listen to (electronic mixed w/ hip-hop and/or alternative rock).
But primarily, I just want to be able to reach a level of competency that allows me and my girlfriend to jam together and have fun with it. So I'm more than willing to look at other genres and/or instruments.
What should I look into? At the moment, I'm playing around with a trial of Ableton Live, and considering taking a couple of music theory courses and buying a MIDI keyboard.
