Hi, I'm a drummer who's learning guitar. I was wondering if anyone has any like professional or legendary takes on how each instrument in supposed to play it's role in a band? Because I'm reading how guitarists are supposed to "sing" or think of "singing" when they play guitar, and some guitarists (like John Mayer) try to emulate singers when they play the instrument. So I'm just wondering if there's any cool takes on each instruments role in a band. I.e. if the guitar is supposed to sing and you have a singer, does that mean you have 2 instruments that are trying to sing?
Anyways, sorry if this is the wrong subreddit. I'm a drummer hahah, not really sure what I'm doing. But if anyone has any Youtube Clips of composers or band members talking about their views on the instruments roles, that'd be fantastic. Have a wonderful day!
