Hey redditors!
TLDR:
I created a ear-training tool for my friends to speed ear training journey, but decided why not share with more people and gather more feedback and suggestions to make it better. I posted it on reddit and received many valuable suggestions and feedback from you guys. Now for some updates!
Ear training tool link: https://pitchhaven.com
Some terms for those who are not familiar:
Playing by ear - learning a new song just by listening, without a need for music scores (using whatever instrument)
Ear training - learning how to play by ear; some examples include identifying single notes just by listening etc
Updates on the pitchhaven ear-training tool:
- https has been enabled
- mobile formatting has been added (hopefully no more button overflows and all that)
- A higher/lower note exercise functionality has been added - 2 notes will play, and you can now practice identifying if the second note is higher or lower!
- A sequence note exercise functionality has been added as well - up to 7 notes will be played one after another, and you can now practice identifying all the notes in the sequence! (this gets exponentially harder, especially if you include black keys)
- I've made a twitter account to post updates regarding this ear-training tool at https://twitter.com/pitchhaven - do follow this account for any updates regarding this tool!
Feel free to give me more feedback - whether the UI is ok / whether the app still loads slowly (it should be faster now that it is properly deployed instead of being served over ngrok on my PC :X) / whether anything is broken!
Note: my application is deployed in Singapore, so it might load a little slower for those outside of the Asia Pacific - do let me know if it is unbearably slow!
What's coming next:
- probably a hard mode including more options for those of you who are further down the road of ear-training
- exercises to identify chords and possibly chord progressions
- I'll update if I think of anymore stuff!
Lastly, thank you all for all the support/feedback/suggestions yall have given me since my last post - really appreciate it very much. I hope the new changes do add value to your ear-training journey!
