Hey everyone,
I'm burnt on drawing out my beats in Ableton, and have decided to get a piece of hardware to help make things a bit more tactile. The two main pieces of equipment I'm considering are the Elektron Machinedrum and a Push 2. Both go for roughly the same price used (in the $600-$700 range), since I don't feel like I'd need the UW version of the Elektron.
That said - is there a way to get comparable performance out of a Push 1? The biggest draw for the P2 and MD for me are the parameter locks that help you implement small changes and mutations on the fly. My understanding is that the Push 1 can't do this, and as such you're going to have to put a lot more work in to getting beats that don't sound totally stolid and repetitive (at least from a sonic perspective). Am I wrong about this?
