I have a habit keeping notes of the things I learn. I just type into sticky notes in Windows. I'm gonna share them here. I had shared "5 workflow tips for FL users" a few months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduction/comments/568su5/5_workflow_tips_for_fl_users/
.
#6 Flip with spare state to compare EQ/compressor settings
Use Spare state compare to analyze small changes in EQ, compressor. It can be used in any plugin in FL from Plugin menu Store in spare state and flip with spare state. Thus you can see if it's actually improving the sound or just changing it.
.
#7 Controlling volume of faders of several tracks
Ctrl + Shift + click to select mixer tracks and volume of these tracks can be controlled as one.
.
#8 FPC keyboard input preset
You don't have a controller with pads and you think piano roll isn't so fun? Enable typing keyboard to piano keyboard. Right click and select the Layout FPC keyboard. Now you can use the left part of your keyboard as drum pad to program drums.
.
#9 "Click-and-hold & special gesture functions"
Enable Click-and-hold & special gesture functions from GUI input section in the General Settings. Piano roll functions include: Copying notes, Cycle slide/porta, Glue notes, Snap note sides, control velocity, cycle through piano roll tools etc. Read more about it in the Manual.
.
#10 Copying automation between clips
Did you know that you can Copy and paste Automation Clip data between Automation Clips. In options menu of the automation clip, click on Copy/Paste state.
.
Bonus: #11 Setting maximum and minimum values to controller automation (probably you know this already)
In FL, you can set maximum/minimum values for automation clips(It's in the settings window of the automation clip). Alright, but how do we control maximum and minimum values for several parameters when we're using the same automation clip to control them?
We can do this with the Remote control settings window(the one that opens up when we're linking automation clips to a knob). It has a mapping formula section; it has a few presets but I didn't really find anything useful. But you can use this feature to set maximum and minimum values.
Here's the formula for that: max(X,min(Y,input))
Replace X with the minimum value and Y with the maximum value you want for the automation for a specific link. Btw, you have to press Enter after typing the formula in the window.
.
I used to write on a blog(not production related) for a few years. That's why my writing is so "fun" to read. Apologies.
Hope you guys finish more tracks, Good luck!
