I've been doing this production thing for 1.5 years now and I can say that without a doubt the hardest thing for me is to make interesting chord progressions. Yes I can make some nice progressions using 3, 4 or even 5 chords. However, the thing I struggle in is using multiple different progressions during a song.
Like I want to introduce a different progression during the buildup, how do I do this? Everytime I try to make a new chord progression it feels incredibly wrong because your ear expects the old chords to happen, but instead the new chords happen.
Does anyone know some advanced chord tutorials? Some perhaps explaining the relations between the chords? I know about dominant and subdominant ect but I really want to be able to use more progressions in a single song.
