Hey guys first post here after lurking this sub for two months. I finally came to the point where I need advice.
I want to upload my tracks to soundcloud and we all know the quality sucks after it converts it to mp3. I used to hear these artifacts and it just ruins the work I put in. Now I finally removed that by adding lowering the ceiling on my master channel by like -0.5 and that seems to fix that issue... Now my tracks sound decent enough for an amateur!! I uploaded and tested on speakers, headphones and the car and it passed those tests...
Now here's where it went to shit. A friend played back my track on the phone and I couldn't believe it. On white noise sweeps and impacts the quality just downgrades to shit and it's really noticeable. Now when I export my track to 128kbps and play that back it's not there... Only on the soundcloud playback?? I don't know what is causing it.
I upload 24bit wav. Set the ceiling lower and don't know what causes it. I know we don't spend our time making music to sound good off smartphone speakers but it's embarrassing when you hear it compared to other tracks. Anyone have ideas about this?
