Hey guys I hope you're well.
Background:
I've only ever used headphones and want to start mixing (on desktop PC at first) and playing music in this quite large room.
I wan't to fill up the room with that big room sound - a bit like my own personal nightclub so I can dance around, as well as mix and maybe produce one day.
Room info:
Hard wood floors, thick stone walls painted.
Length: 8 m (North <-> South) (26.25 ft)
Width: 6.5 m (East <-> West) (21.33 ft)
Height: 3.5 m (11.48 ft)
Area: 52 m2 (170.60 ft2)
Volume: 156 m3 (511.81 ft3)
My first idea:
I assumed I would just buy an amp and four speakers (a kind of Hi-Fi setup) which were big enough for the room but then read about studio monitors and it seems they may be better for this application, but that's why I'm here asking:
Main Question:
What setup would you recommend to fill that room with good quality sound? - I want it to be able to go quite loud, like imagine your hosting a rave in there.
Flexible Budget:
£2,000 GBP (~$2,400 USD)
Equipment owned:
* PC with line out, optical out, headphone out (can use headphone and other simultaneously)
* Portable USB DAC: FiiO Alpen 2
* Headphones: BeyerDynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohm
* + Can get any amp/dac if needed
* + Likely to get USB controller in future and maybe even a mixer further down the line
Source:
PC as a virtual mixer at first, with possible future USB controller/mixer additions.
Materials for this System:
Music: house, techno, electro, disco, italo/hi-nrg, tech house, deep house, ambient, world, soul, 80's, chill, indie-dance, electro-pop, a bit of classics/pop/rock/bass music/DnB
Movies: rarely (prefer headphones)
Games: rarely (prefer headphones)
I don't care about looks & no WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor).
From quick reading the JBL LSR308 seem an easy choice but I'm not sure if two would be enough to fill this room or if you can even plausibly use more than two.
Thanks in advance for your time and input!
