I'm looking to upgrade my studio monitors. I am currently rocking these, and to be honest, they're not bad, but I'm not super happy with them. They go down to about 60 Hz. The type of music I'm producing almost always has some type of low end, so being able to hear those lower frequencies is nice. They're inaccurate. I can hear lower freqs in my headphones, Audio Technica ATH-M50x's, but it's nice to be able to sit back with the headphones off & bump some my music sometimes. I like to dance and experience the music as a listener while I'm producing.
I'm looking to sell the Tascams in the near future & upgrade in a big way. Anyways, a big thing for me is the frequency range. To my understanding, the human ear can perceive frequencies as low as 20 Hz or so, and can "feel" some frequencies lower than that.
From the searching I've been doing over the past few hours, it looks like most monitors don't go below 30. I feel like introducing a sub into the mix will make things too complicated for me. Also, it is probably worth mentioning that I produce in a tiny room. I know that the wavelengths of some of those low frequencies are at least double the length of my room. How much of a problem will that be for me? Are there monitors out there that have a range down to 20 Hz, that I just can't find? Is it even worth it if I'm in a tiny room?
The more research I do, the more worried & confused I get. I'm kind of spiraling here, please help lol.
