I don't know how to put this, but anyways here it goes:
Say I created a MIDI pattern in pianoroll. Now if I increase the tempo obviously the speed would increase. So that means a 180 BPM MIDI pattern would be twice as fast as 90 BPM pattern. Now suppose the pattern @90 BPM is 2 bars long. If I reduce the individual lengths of MIDI notes and the space between notes to half, the new pattern now becomes 1 bar long. The 1-bar version of the 90 BPM pattern would sound faster than the 2-bar 90 BPM pattern. Question is: is the 1-bar 90 BPM pattern same as the 2-bar 180 BPM?
