Today I️ decided I won’t open up Ableton, I️ am virtually always on unless at my day job. I️ treat producing music very seriously and am beginning to sacrifice the original enjoyment & fun it brings me. Finishing up my EP, starting collaborations, learning to dj for my first show..my head feels like it’s gonna explode. Ever heard someone say “don’t take yourself too seriously.” Yeah, I️ finally understand that now. No writing, no head banging to dubstep in the car, just peace and quiet for the next 24 hours. To those of you who want to be an electronic musician for your career, do you notice benefits or boosts in creativity from taking days off from making music? I️ feel like it’s counterproductive to obsess and revolve your life around music production, which I️ have been doing as of late. (To be clear, music production is my biggest passion and hardly feels like work, but with balance)
By that same token, I️ believe spending more or less time on certain elements of producing enhanced my overall skill greatly. Certain days for sound design, mixing, music theory, etc..and certain days for Game of Thrones! Can’t be making bangers 24/7!
