Hey folks, I know this might sound pathetic but anyway - I'm 25 years old. Never had a chance to play an instrument. We have an acoustic guitar at home and I wanted to try to play it maybe, I've never done something like that.
Just something casual, just being able to play a couple of my favorite tunes would make me happy. But I have no idea where to start realistically. Googling around gives me some guides for things which sound outlandish to me, like "learn the guitar in 12 hours", but experience has made me doubtful of these things.
What is the proper way, as a beginner who knows NOTHING about music theory, to get started? Note, I mean to learn by myself through online resources and such. Nothing fancy!
Again, I apologize, I know you must get a million guys like this here a day, and searching has turned up some results (already looking at justinguitar.com), but I'd really appreciate a personalized answer considering my situation and relatively modest aspirations.
