Alright so I'm completely new to this and all I've got to work with is a 10'x12' room with 8 foot ceilings, and some of the information I've read and heard would have me believe I'm fucked to begin with. I've been trying to read up on absorption and diffusion but there's an overwhelming amount of information out there and a lot of it is conflicting. For example, I've heard that it's worth it to build your own absorption panels using something like Roxul insulation with some acoustically transparent fabric. Then I've heard the exact opposite - that using insulation for absorption is pointless and ineffective. I've also heard that with a room like mine, absorption and diffusion are irrelevant because I'm just working in a shitty space. I need some clarity here - does anyone else work in a small room like mine? Even though a space like this obviously isn't ideal, what can I do to improve acoustics? ... Is there any point in even trying to improve the acoustics? Help.
