Looking to learn to create my own sound in this style:

The main phrase that runs through the track starting at 0:30
I know the artist uses a DX100, so I'm assuming this is an FM sound? Or I thought it could be from a 303 but it sounds to smooth to be from anything subtractive I would of thought.
Where do I start making sounds like this? I've followed a few FM tutorials and know how to use FM8, but can't think for the life of me where to start trying to make those smooth, rounded, bloops and bleeps.
