After many years I have almost broken my Sennheiser HD595s. I've been happy with them overall, good clearish sound and very comfortable.
However, one thing that I have always struggled with is bass. They sound quite light in this area to me and I find it very hard to judge, if I mix at a level that sounds good on them and then check on my mp3 player with earbuds it is often far too much.
I wear them a lot so comfort is another factor.
After scanning through some other threads I found a variety of recommendations, from super cheap Samson SR850 to Beyerdynamic DT770. Samson ones do seem to have good reviews but the price makes me wonder how good they can me and whether people are saying they are good for a pair of £30 headphones or whether they are good in the sense that they can compare to DT770s or other more expensive ones.
The DT770s are about as much as I would want to spend. I am tempted to buy another pair of the Sennheisers but I wonder if I can do better.
