Replicating the sounds in your head into the DAW can be extremely difficult. I have found that my best melodies are the ones I discovered on the fly while messing around trying random notes in the DAW in real-time. The melodies would be unintentional, but would have equal beauty as the one in my head. They would not be the same sounds, but still produce the same amount of euphoria when played.
What I am trying to ask, should I spend my time on learning everything about FL Studio so I can get to the point where I can translate the sounds in my head into the DAW, or would I be wasting time, and be better off on messing around in my DAW and finding melodies in realtime by placing random notes on the go?
At this stage, I can't replicate the sounds in my head to the DAW, I know little. But if I mess around in the DAW, I can still create really good melodies.
My question for this subreddit is this: Are the best songs and melodies you have are just the result of trying random notes, or are they the product of you trying to translate the sounds in your head onto the DAW? Are your best songs made from you just winging it and trying notes in the DAW?
