Hi everyone, I'd appreciate some perspective and opinion on collaboration. Here's some background:
Let's say, person A creates an EP based on a Deep House-ish kind of sound.
Person A decides to feature Person B on one of those tracks.
Person B agrees and sends ideas for the collaboration.
Person A likes the ideas but changes them to fit in with the "Deep" sound.
Person B doesn't initially like the changes but accepts them, except for 1 particular change.
Person B wants Person A to remove that 1 particular change.
Person A disagrees and likes the 1 particular change and says it fits the sound of the "Deep" EP.
Person B says, "this is a collaboration, so you must make that change."
Person A counters, " I would agree completely on a typical collaboration; I would definitely be more receptive to change it for you if it were just some single. However, since this collaboration is on MY EP, I should be able to make the final call if I like it."
Person B disagrees, "It doesn't matter if it's on your EP. I should have much of a right to it as you do, especially considering you already made so many changes to my original ideas."
So my question: Should Person A be able to make the final call if the collaboration is on his EP? Or since this is a collaboration to begin with, should Person B be able to make the change?
What would you do? Thanks in advance for the answers.
