The other day I hooked up my AKAI MPK MK2 to my laptop and tried to drum a live footwork beat with the pads. However, when I recorded my notes I noticed that they appeared to be "fixed" to the nearest quarter note and therefore sounded very robotic and monotonous, as if I programmed them, and not offbeat like they were supposed to when I actually drummed them. Also, I noticed that if I tried to drum especially fast while recording, certain samples wouldn't be recorded at all (e.g hi hat trills, some hi hats would be missing after recording, as if the program didn't register it even though i could hear it in my headphones), and again the notes would be fixed to the nearest quarter note. Is there a certain setting that disables this or is this a problem with my hardware?
