Sup Guys. My 10 year old got a LaunchPad from Novation. We spent about 4 hours trying to figure this thing out but hes on the verge of wanting to send it back now.
Can anyone link me to any demos/project files that have cool looking midi lights included? Am I missing something? It seems like you will have to spend 40 hours just to set up a single song? On the project files we downloaded, none of them have lights maps.
Are we doing something wrong or? We load a project file, Click User 1. Sounds play but there's no lights at all. We watched numerous tutorials and he was met with roadblocks in each one. Either shortcuts didnt work or his Abelton Live 9 studio didnt match up to the one on the tutorial. I did finally figure out the right settings to get the user 1 buttons to light up on press - but its really just bland. Nothing like what hes been watching on Youtube.
It just seems way overly complicated.
If he ships this LaunchPad back for return. Could you recommend something else to get him started in dubstep/dance music production? I know years ago I used Fruityloops to sample my guitar onto my computer and add effects. I'm not even sure if thats still a thing tho and not sure if you can do the same with Dubstep/Dance. I want to support him in making music but not blow his mind with a overly complicated software/hardware.
