I'm wondering how certain artists use vocal chops/melodies to make "their sound" so to speak. I'm not talking about getting some random acapella and chopping it up into a melody, which anyone can do. More specifically, I'm curious about how some producers use vocal chops from the same "voice" in several of their songs.
For some examples: clams casino, holy other, billboard
Do these guys get a singer or something? Sing themselves and pitch around their voice? A specific vocal sample pack?
Basically what I'm asking is how to get consistent vocal chops/melodies that they sound similar across different songs. Anyone have some knowledge of how the pros do it?
