What I am looking to do is put a noise gate on a reverb channelwith no initial gating. I want to sidechain a kick to the gate, and close (not open) the gate whenever the kick hits.
The goal is to use the kick to control the decay of the reverb, but I want to completely kill or gate the reverb each time to kick hits. I am familiar with sidechain compressing the reverb, but this doesn't completely kill it.
Is this possible with any noise gate plugins? Or maybe use a brick wall limiter with a very low threshold?
