Recently got an Audient ID4 so now my little bedroom studio consists of a laptop, keyboard, interface and a mic. I'm really proud of what I have except I don't feel like I'm using my gear properly.
Using the ID4 to record sound there is a night and day difference sure, but I'm not hearing it in audio playback. Setting the gain to around -6dB seems to be around the same volume as my laptop's headphone jack and I can not tell the difference. Now setting the gain to 0dB seems to utterly distort my tracks, but that just says volumes about my mixing rather then sound quality.
What am I missing? Do I change my windows sound setting like how do I use the interface to mix?
