Touching on a subject that doesn't seem to get alot of attention, but how are you all layering your hi hats? I hear alot of tracks where the hi hats seem really busy. It adds to the overall fullness of the track but to my ears there is more going on than a simple one layer of open and closed hats.
Ive opened a few project files where I see the artist is using a few layers of hat loops at any given time. What's the technique? Open, closed, shakers, and more? A few layers going on with rhythmic variation?
