I'm about to pull the trigger on a new desktop build and I'm deciding between the new Intel CPUs, either the overclockable i5 8600k (6 core/6 thread) or the i7 8700 (6 core/12 thread). The 8600k has a faster base clock and can be OC'd but the 8700 has a better turbo boost and has hyperthreading.
I know ableton supports hyperthreading as they say on their website but I've seen forums where guys have run tests that show that it actually only ends up utilizing the physical cores and doesn't take use the hypethreading. Is it better to have better SC performance or HT performance for ableton. Which one should I get?
