How do you guys go about having your sounds such as plucks, pianos, ect tail off when played from a midi channel? My sounds always seem to either a) cut short abruptly when I end the midi note or b) Muddy the mix, can't get them to fade out. I know there are some solutions to this like using the right reverb or gain modulation but that isn't what I am looking for. With reverb I tend to lose a lot of the punch that I want on the initial hit of the instrument and automating gain throughout an entire track is cumbersome. Overall I am trying to create space on my main instruments without completely cutting them short. Does anyone else run into this issue? Is it just the sustain/decay of the instrument I am using, I can't seem to get it right no matter how I tweak it.
