Title pretty much says it, but learning instruments (I am already decent at guitar, but I have no experience on piano and I want to learn it badly) takes tons of time. There are no short cuts to learning an instrument, similar to producing. You need to put the damn hours in to get any good at it, and am not sure how to dedicate it to where I can learn both.
I initially thought... Time split the day, producing and then guitar and then piano. Wow, I only get less than an hour for about each thing. That is hardly enough time even in full focus to get anything done.
I then thought... What if I split my days, to wear I would spend a full day producing, then a full day on theory, instruments, etc. Well, I am not sure if this is effective for learning an instrument (for mastery, daily practice is very key, it's to gain muscle memory and learn the instrument as "second nature").
Someone might ask, "What's more important to you?". That is a damn hard question, but I would say production is because it's very versatile and you can do so many thing with it that instruments can't. However, if I ever made a live orientated show I want to not just stand behind a CDJ, I want to be a musician. What do you recommend? Also when I define production, I mean like anything producing related, not just working. Do I need to spend full time creating or research on production? There are so many things w/ such little time.
