I was watching a documentary on Netflix called "Abstract: The Art of Design" (I can definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it yet). I noticed that the way the artists on that show created things was in a completely different way than how I approach music.
Generally when I’m trying to make a song I don’t really have a goal or even a type of genre in mind. I’m not trying to tell a story or model anything really. I just try random shit until something sticks and then build from there. This seems to be the opposite approach of what these amazing artists on this show do.
Are you guys just doing things randomly as well? Or do you get ideas externally and then try to create a song that mimics that? Do you start with a theme or anything? I’m curious to see what drives your song writing process so that I can maybe improve mine a bit. Thanks!!
