Is there any well explained & (most important) interesting resource to learn about harmony/music theory. Most of the stuff I found is either pretty boring or just plain theory without explaining why it is like that. It's like a schema for calculating 2*2 but not explaining multiplication.
I read a while ago a book about painting from Betty Edwards and it differs from other painting books because it explains the underlying concepts why people suck at painting. This book made me understand how to correctly look at things. It's usually that people look wrong instead of using the pencil wrong.
I'm searching something similar for music. I want to know why e.g a minor scale sounds sad and a major scale uplifting. I want to understand the theory in a way that I can use it without a formular.
