Been looking through all the archived posts but almost none of them are for FL 12. I am trying to make my 808 really shine through the track but right now its heavily competing with my Synth chords I made with GSM. Honestly my chord prog has a lot of bass to it (I didn't even realize until I listened back and layered the chords that what I thought was chord progression is actually probably sub bass) but I want my 808's to accompany it and add some more definition. From what I understand we achieve this by sidechaining, but I am on the struggle bus with this. I have sidechained my synth to my 808(also my kick). Then I added a Fruity Limiter to my GSM, went into compression and tweaked the threshold down and bent the knee down but nothing even changed(plus idk what this was even supposed to change). My 808 is still being bogged down and sometimes even muted when the chord prog/melody sync. Should I sidechain more to my 808? Is my limiter set wrong? If anyone has good FL sources for mixing/mastering and more specifically side chaining way in depth. What I have looked at so far just isn't clicking with me.
