Pitch bending Voice whilst staying in Key.

As someone who does very little work with vocals, I'm very interested to know how producers are pitch bending whilst remaining in key?

Is it formant shifting?

If so can anyone recommend any decent plugins capable?

Examples can be found in the following :-

• Lido - Angel at 01:29
• Kendrick Lamar - Pride at 00:50
