I feel like this should be a simple question, but I'm not able to find a firm answer. I'm learning to compose and write and want to experiment with the pentatonic scales in order to get a folksy sound in something that I'm writing. I understand the scale, but I'm having trouble understanding the chords as they apply to this kind of scale and music. Is it as simple as the I/ii/iii/V/vi chords? Do all of the normal progression guidelines apply? I might be making too much of this.
