Quick question. Producer friend of mine who's in uni for audio engineering says always to -0.3 since 320kbps mp3 and AAC adds about that much extra due to artifacts. Verified this occurs with ozone and span; but wouldnt that 0.3db of clipping from mastering at 0db add more grit the same way tape distortion would and possibly sound more pleasant?
I've been mastering to 0db this whole time and havnt notice clicks or pops in my audio, but 0.3db reduction at the end seems almost cheating myself out of 0.3db if you cant hear the diff.
Just looking for some thoughts on what you guys normally do
