maybe it's a combination of the natural evolution of music quality (mixing, mastering, tools, etc.) combined with the fact that big room was/is just a ton of shit layered onto itself and meant for BIG ROOMs, but it feels like contemporary electronic music (future bass as an example) is just mixed ridiculously better.
