I've recently been using NI Maschine. It's not meant for the kind of music I want to produce, so I want to change to something more common. I have a Mac, so I can't get FL. I'd like some outside perspective and advice.
So, my first concern is the arrangement mode flexibility. In Maschine, everything is strictly locked to pattern/scene boundaries. I want to be able to place things more arbitrarily. Next, I need to be able to work with audio clips, including vocal tracks, samples, and loops. If you don't know how bad Maschine is with that sort of thing... you probably don't want to. Lastly, I'm concerned about automation. In Maschine, you have to do everything by hand, either by recording automation, or by arduously selecting every automation point. That's why I'm bummed out about not being able to get FL; I really want to automate tempo and stuff easily.
So, what DAWs should I take a look at? And is there a version of FL for OSX that I'm not familiar with?
