So I bought FL Studio (the producer version with a few extra plugins like Maximus that seemed handy) a few months ago, and have tried starting the process of making a few songs, but I always end up getting discouraged because my stuff sounds like crap. I will often get a beat or melody in my head I want to use, and even sometimes have the forethought to hum it out and record it so I can remember it later, but as you know, the trouble with production is being able to make something sound as good as it does in your head. Because of this, I always sit down to work on production and end up procrastinating. I feel like it is something I will enjoy a lot once I have some basic skills developed, and can make something worthwhile, but I am finding the initial learning process very difficult. It also doesn't help that I have little to no background in music, so melodies and chords are trial and error for me. How did you guys keep yourselves motivated to get through the initial learning stages?
