I produce and listen to a lot of trance and I feel like the thing that has repeatedly come up is how these pro guys make their basslines sound so percussive, so accentuated and yet not overpowering mix-wise.

I seriously struggle with getting bass to sound like these examples. Especially the first one.. where it's really audible but not in front of everything in the mix. How do you get it so percussive? Is it just a matter of attack and EQ?
This is probably SUPER simple for people with experience in sound design; could anyone point me in the right direction?
