Whenever I have to bring my clarinet home to practice - say for a test, or a concert, etc. - I find that my clarinet sound extremely stuffy and hard to play when I play it at home, as opposed to the clear, smooth - even beautiful at times - sound that comes out my clarinet when I play in my school music room.
I used Occam's Razor to deduct what might be the problem here, and I came to the conclusion that the acoustics at my home is a lot different than in my school's music room, and that's why my instrument sounds so much different - and worse. Would that be correct?
I know it's not my posture because I make sure to play - almost - the exact same way anywhere I am. Its not my instrument because then my instrument would sound wrong at my school as well. So that leaves me to believe that the problem lies in the acoustics - or "climate"/temperature, maybe? - of my home...
Any suggestions on how to deal with this, or to some this annoying problem that makes it hard for me to practice at home?
BTW, I just got a new reed (2½), of that's important.
