How do you guys separate the composition stage from the mixing stage? I was originally going to export all of my stems from ableton then mix it in pro tools, but for some reason that seems like I could fuck up the audio along the way bc I am not keeping track of what I did in ableton. Also how would I know what kind of effects to apply in ableton and what mixing ideas would i save for p tools. Like sidechaining for example is used more now as a compositional tool, but I would also like to do some subtle side-chaining for mixing purposes. This is why I'm leaning towards doing the whole thing in ableton then mixing in pro tools. But then again, pro tools is a way better daw for mixing. What do you guys do?
