Hey everyone, I just came across this thread and was hoping that maybe some experts could pin down the nuts and bolts of what is going on in the style of music I've been writing. I have come across a lot of terms like counterpoint, and polyphonic textures which really seem to fit the best in my opinion - and I would love some validation or correction on that. I write music on the electric guitar and have only just begun trying to learn the theory side of things, and thought the people here may be able to explain some theoretical elements at play here in the music I've composed so that I might be able to exploit the ideas in more intelligent and expanded ways with practice and time. I have always been really interested in multiple melodies that don't necessarily have any more importance over the other, and aren't really written thinking about how all the notes will fit together. At the same time the melodies are meant to sound cool together when I draft them up and decide I'm happy with them, but this is all really just done on how I would be singing things if I had a guitar as a voice so it's not like I have any idea what kind of tools I may be making use of in my material. This is a link to an album of my material programmed into guitar pro 6, so it sounds a bit video gamey, but if anyone could head over and possibly give me some of the answers I am looking for then that would be great! I look forward to any discussion that may come from this! Also I can provide you with a free download if you enjoy what you hear! https://bartalian.bandcamp.com/
