Im 17 and have been experimenting with fl studio since i was 13. I know the daw nearly inside and out now. My dad, whos a vocalist has heard my songs and has been supporting me all the way invited me to come to his studio with him and his buddies for his band (just a hobby band, nothing serious). he wanted me to do some mixing for them and show them how i do my stuff. When i told him i use FL studio, it was nearly like he was in shock in a way. He told me its not made for band recordings. he tells me its a "begginer software" and now i can tell hes on the brink of not wanting me over anymore.
