I've seen countless people complaining about not getting answers in the weekly threads and it's not because there aren't enough people around here who know how to make these sounds and who are willing to help - it's simply because of how Reddit works:
- you don't get upvoted, you will probably not get an answer
- people ask for the same sounds from the same tracks again and again over time
So I thought about how to solve this problem and I came up with a rather simple idea for a website that I am going to make for all the music producers out there, IF you like the idea.
The website would have a search bar in which you simply had to copy the youtube url of the track in which the sound is you are looking for. If nobody was looking for that track before you, this will create a page on the website where the video is embedded. On this page, you can post the time where the sound is played and the type of sound you are looking for.
The homepage will show the latest 10 request, the latest unanswered requests and the most popular requests. The "unanswered" section makes sure that as many requests are answered as possible.
Others can reply to requests simply by dropping a comment containing either an explanation on how to recreate the sound or by leaving you with a youtube link to a tutorial. So people who create this types of videos can also go ahead and post their solutions right away (which is effectively promoting their videos) without waiting for requests.
Also, if the final product works and people like it, I would happily work together with the moderators of this subreddit (and other similar subreddits) to replace or work along the weekly threads.
I have so many ideas for this website, but I would like to keep it as simple and clean as possible for the beginning. Anyway, I'm very happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions of course!
