-Tech stats at bottom, tl;dr is basically the title-
At the moment if someone is doing vocals over a beat of mine their vocals are not lined up with the actual beat when you go to play it back. The "ghetto" solution (not making fun of anyone, I'm broke as fuck and live in a pretty iffy area lol) I assume would work is to let him listen to an exported rough draft of the beat off of a different device (with earbuds) and record the vocals straight into Ableton, then I'd line it up correctly.
Seems like a far-from-perfect solution though, and I'd rather correct the problem so I can just record vocals and not have to worry much about them being unnaturally out of sync. What can I do to fix this issue? Also if I can't do ANYTHING else, how do I find out the exact latency so I can try to correct it in Ableton?
I'm fine with a very difficult fix, I know a lot about computers and technology in general, I'm just hoping it's fixable period (or at least to an extent). I don't wanna have to work around it until I get a new computer (Which will probably happen when I start making enough money from music to buy a computer, i.e. not something I wanna risk waiting for).
Tech info
*OS & DAW: Windows (8.1 IIRC, not technically my comp so I always forget what version it is. Yeah I know that's ridiculous, I used to program a lot lol. Either way it does work with my interface) w/ Ableton Live 9. i7 processor and IIRC 8GB RAM. *Interface: Scarlett Solo 2i/2o USB with the newest Focusrite drivers from its site (Some people say ASIO4ALL can imorove latency some say the ASIO drivers make it worse) *Mic: Scarlett CM25 *Setup: Eris E5 monitors connected to int. via unbalanced RCA, mic to int. via XLR, interface to comp and Alesis VI49 MIDI keyboard to comp both via USB.
