Hey guys,
lately I'm wondering how I should group my tracks best. So far, I always grouped them by instrument and layers. That means, if an instrument consists of three layers I group those, so I can process the layers a single track and mix it into the song. If an instrument consists of only one layer I leave it alone. On the other side, I have see more advanced producers group their instruments by category (drums, instruments, FX, etc.).
So, my question is how you guys go about it? Am I missing an important aspect? I'm pretty confused now because I haven't see a single advanced producer ever doing it the way I do. They all group track by category.
