For electronic music, the kick drum is basically gonna be the base of your song. I want to know how you guys pick your kick drum samples.
Answers that make sense are appreciated :) Example:
bad -> I like to find a kick drum thats really punchy and really punches through the mix<- XXXXX bad
ok answer -> Depends on song. (please give criteria on how you know its right for a certain song)
Good example: Make sure this certain frequency xxHz is not sticking out too much, as it causes the kick drum to sound like hitting cardboard. Having a transient that is (so and so) will allow the kick to punch through the mix
As a side question how do you pick the key?
Thanks very much :)
