To keep most hip-hop songs clean on the radio, I've noticed a lot of songs use an interesting time-stretch (tape stop?) effect on the vocals whenever they say the n-word. I've used tape stop before but I was curious how professionals do it so that it stays on tempo.
For example, Broccoli by D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty they use on it the piano and the vocals but it says on tempo.

Is it just cleverly and carefully using tape stop?
