I've got some music theory in my belt, and anything I write would decently fit a future bass track or some type of progressive house.
How do I go about writing chords that are more dark and somber?
I'm talking like how do I go about making intros for a song that would go in the direction of a drop fitting the style of heRobust, LAXX, Snails, etc.
Anything I make is too happy and doesn't really go well with a drop that just sounds like metal grinding against your ears.
Are there certain keys I should stick to, what are the general rules to keep in mind?
I don't hear much music theory going on in these tracks, so that's why I am bringing this up. Thank you
